| Weekly Round-Up |
There always seems to be so much going on in the world that, as of this week, we have a new feature on Kay Cooks: my weekly round-up — a collection of links to various stories which have caught my eye over the past week. First up, we have McDonald's mad attempt to prosecute a Sardinian snack seller for calling his product 'McPuddu'. Apparently they think that their potential customers might somehow get confused by the his use of the prefix. Which is a poor look out for anyone starting a food business with the a name beginning with Mc. Time Magazine gets stuck into the organic food debate here — — while The Daily Beast publishes its own tests on how clean post-oil spill Gulf seafood is or not. The results — it's pretty fantastic. The BBC has this story about a brewing mackerel war between Britain and Iceland. Apparently, Iceland landed almost no mackerel at all back in 2006, but has now granted itself a 130,000 tonne quota, while the Faroe Islands have tripled theirs. Finally — and nothing to do with food — Save The Words. You know you should. K xx |
